Except that in the entire history of humankind, there never has been a benevolent despot. Despots have always been, and presumably always will be, unethical and selfish. And a despot does not need to explain why he thinks a particular path is the right path forward, because for a despot the right path forward is whatever path he selfishly chooses to take. He (or she) may pretend to explain stuff when running for office; but as soon as that office is achieved, look out!
