Hamas has held sway for some time partly (and only partly) because Israelis have treated Palestinians as second-class citizens. That does IN NO WAY excuse Hamas for making war on citizens, particularly children. I mention it only because it would seem that any real and lasting peace will only come about when everyone in that area of the world is treated with respect and fairness. And, oh, my god!, particularly children.
