I don't see any individual person as heartless, though I do make an exception when someone proves they are just that, as these Republican governors have done. Also, I do appreciate your voicing your concerns, which I think are valid, or at least would be valid if this program did require opening schools or distribute school lunches. But it doesn't. Please read the details. All this program does is add $40 a month per schoolchild to a family's EBT card, which that family already has. It is a program with a successful track record during COVID. It is only being extended at this time. Also, please read the details about the cost. It is not "totally free." It's just close to that, and a money maker for states as well.
