I don't think Biden is calling the shots, for exactly the reasons I included in the article: in one word, Republicans. No implication here; I'll just say it as loudly as my fingers can type.

I absolutely agree with you that this scenario is not good. This is not what democracy should be: for sure. I've written about our no longer being a democracy. What we have now is late-stage capitalism resulting in oligarchy, and oligarchy that cares only about acquiring more wealth.

All we can do is vote for Democrats. If we get a Democratic Presidency, House, and Senate and we're still not moving back towards some semblance of democracy, then we may have a chance to save ourselves and even the planet.
