I live very rurally so am not surrounded by people physically. Online, very few of the people I'm surrounded by are irrational or idiots; indeed, I have been surprised at the intelligence I've found on Medium (for example). So, hang in there. Things may get better. Though I do have to say that not being involved in politics--the subject of a recent article by you--does put you in a group of people who are irrational or idiots. That's kinda like saying, "I don't want to have any input into what happens to me."
