I think there is another interpretation that has to be considered: People who now have no trace of goodness in themselves lost their morality due to Trump-type propaganda. It's not that these Trumpers can't see goodness in others; it is that they see any good person as someone who is so weak that they can be denigrated, violated, or even killed.
