I used "foisted" because of the amount of advertisement for sugar-filled stuff that we are "subjected" to around Christmas. I can't believe that such advertisement has no effect; if it did have no effect, nobody would advertise. So I'm not sure, when you bake your sugar-based cookies, that you ARE making your own decisions. Advertisement and tradition together may be more influential than we think when we make OUR OWN decisions.
