A “No AI” badge tells readers no AI text generator wrote your story

Hello. I’m Katharine Valentino, creator of the “No AI” badge you see pictured above (a smaller version is available at the end of this story).

A writer puts the smaller version of the badge on a story to assure you that the story was written by them and not by ChatGPT, Jasper AI, GrowthBar, Frase, Copysmith, Hypotenuse, Copy AI, Writer, InferKit, Quillbot, Writesonic, Ryter, or any other AI text generator.

The writer, not some AI text generator, had an idea about what they wanted to write. They felt strongly about the idea and decided you might feel just as strongly about it. They wanted to write the story in a way that would reveal a truth and be a satisfying read. They wanted to contribute to your knowledge or your well-being or your power. They did the work of writing the story.

An AI text generator — a robot — only responds to commands. It has no ideas or emotions, and it doesn’t care about you, the reader. Only a human writer can care about what you care about.

Only a human writer can write a uniquely human story.
