My father was French Canadian. I don't know how the family wound up in New Hampshire. I know they spoke some English my immediate family, my mother and father (their son) and my brother, visited them when I was a child. There was not much conversation, but my mother managed to discuss cooking and stuff. We were living in the South at the time, and they wanted to know if we had wood floors--they thought everybody in the South had dirt floors.
