Now, this is the sort of comment I hope for. Wealth tax, even though I favored it up until yesterday, has some problems I found out about yesterday in another comment by Kerry Landon-Lane. Mostly it's ungainly and just as subject to chicanery as income tax. Kerry recommends a VAT tax combined with a base income for all citizens. That, I would enthusiastically support--not that my support would matter.
