Thanks for this comment. It adds quite a lot of detail about the suffering during the Great Depression. However, when you limit the conversation to the cost of things, it does seem as though we are better off "financially" than we were then--in many ways. (As to the price of gas, $.10 then and $4.60 now, 10 cents multiplied by 46 is $4.60 (and $4.60 divided by 10 cents is 46. You had me worried there for a minute that I'd made a mistake, but it seems I did it right.)
