In my retirement, I live in a fifth wheel, large enough for what I need but small enough to have required me, before moving in, to distinguish want from need.
So there I was, sitting on the floor in my apartment making a decision about whether each item I owned should be put into one of the packing boxes surrounding me, or should be something somebody less fortunate than I could find on a shelf at Goodwill.
— Skillets: The small one is what I’ve used most often, just for me. I don’t want there to be “just me” for the rest of my life, though, so I’ll keep the large one.
— Jeans, t-shirts and sweatshirts, need and keep. Suits? No corporate rat-run anymore, so donate. What about my floor-length purple velvet dress? I love this dress. Well, OK, but donate all the rest of this stuff you paid good money for but haven’t worn in two years.
