This used to be a legal requirement in media.

The rise of the extreme right-wing in American politics in the past six years is a direct consequence of media attempts to demonstrate “tolerance” and air “both sides” of issues. On its face, this is admirable. But repeatedly giving a platform to both sides of an issue (like election fraud in the 2020 election), when the issue has been decisively settled, just gives that issue, and its bad-faith proponents, undue attention.

This used to be a legal requirement in media. After it was no longer legally required, the left continued doing it while the right did (and does) not.
